How to change Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) preferences and mobile phone details.

Overview

Sundale has a new security feature called Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). Once registered, you can change your preference or contact details for verification at any time. This guide provides the steps to change or update you mobile phone number to receive a text message verification code or to change your preference to the Microsoft Verification App to use the verification code/notification option.


If for any reason, you no longer have access to the mobile number registered for your MFA account and have no way to access the verification code, you will need to contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.



Requirements

  • Microsoft Access
  • Internet Access
  • Previously registered MFA


Procedure

  1. To change the phone number that has been registered or to change the preference to use the app, please click on the following link:

  3.  receive a prompt to enter a verification code sent to the registered mobile number.
    You will need to enter the 6 digit verification code then select Verify
    .

    *If for any reason, you no longer have access to the mobile number registered for your MFA account and have no way to access the verification code, you will need to contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.

  4. Enter the new phone number you wish to use for the text verification codes.
    Then select
    Next


  5. You will then be prompted to Verify the changes made to your preferred option.
    Select
    Verify preferred option.


  6. A text message with the verification code will be sent to the new preferred mobile number.
    You will then need to enter the 6 digit verification code
    Then select
    Next



  7. You will then receive the following message and you select close


  8. If you wish to change your preference to use the Microsoft Verification App. Follow steps 1 through to 3.

    From the drop down select how you would like to use the Microsoft Verification app
        Notify me through app: This will send a notification to your phone asking you to approve the attempted log in to your account
        Use verification code from app or token: You can open the app and use the 6 digit verification code provided

    Ensure you have the Authenticator app or Token box selected.
    Then select
    Set up Authenticator app


  9. The following screen will the be displayed and you will need to follow the directions given to set up your mobile app (see step 10 for Mobile App steps).



  10. On your Mobile device, download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app from your app store.



    Once the app has finished installing, open it and follow the prompts.




  11. Once the Mobile App displays a 6 digit Code, choose Next



  12. If may then be asked to respond to a notification via your mobile phone.
    Select approve (on your mobile device).




  13. Then select Save
